🗓 Date: Thursday 31 July 2025

🕒 Time: 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM

📍 Online – Link to be provided upon registration

Join us for a one-hour Fireside Chat focused on safeguarding services in the disability support sector. This session will explore what’s already in place, what’s being developed, and how providers can play an active role in creating safe, accountable, and empowering environments for disabled people.

We’ll be joined by three sector leaders who are at the forefront of this mahi:

🔹 Carmella Petanga – General Manager, DSS, MSD

Sharing insights into the DSS Safeguarding Quality System and how it supports sector-wide improvement and protection.

🔹 Lorna Sullivan – Assisting Change

Discussing how their service supports providers to respond to concerns and strengthen safeguarding practices on the ground.

🔹 Gary Basham – People for Us

Highlighting peer-led safeguarding and how disabled people are driving change through lived experience and advocacy.

There will also be time for your questions and discussion.

Why attend?

This is a great opportunity to stay up to date with current safeguarding initiatives, understand new directions from DSS, and learn from real-world experiences. Whether you’re in leadership, service delivery, or quality improvement, this session is for you.

We look forward to seeing you there!
